Summer Greetings to All Circles Greater Nashua Community ~

Apologies for the lateness of this update, but we have been busy re-envisioning our strategy for launching the first cohort of Circles Leaders in Nashua!

First things first, though – please save this date:

Gathering the Circle:  Summer Supper and Volunteer Update

Tuesday, August 21, 6pm

Main Street United Methodist Church, 154 Main Street, Nashua, NH

All Circles Greater Nashua volunteers are asked to join us for a light salad supper and an update on our activities and plans to commence our first cohort.

We know from experience that summer is a less than ideal time to launch a new program, so we have made the decision to “lift-off” after Labor Day on September 11 to be exact!  However, this doesn’t mean the staff is taking the summer off!

We have found that relying on community services staff for referrals of potential Circle Leaders has not been as effective in our locale as it has been for many other Circles Chapters around the U.S. and Canada.  So we have been thinking outside the box and have decided to focus our efforts over the summer on getting out into the community and finding those motivated future Circle Leaders ourselves, and that is just what we’re working on.

We have been and will continue to set ourselves up at various events, such as the Adult Learning Center Jobs & Resource Fair; the Ash Street Block Party; the Community Fair at the Early Learning Center in Hudson, and many more.

In addition, we are reaching out to community organizations to set up information tables as well as brief introductory Circles events for their clients.  We hope to also offer these presentations in agencies, faith communities, early childhood programs, subsidized housing locations and other locations.  If you know of summer events where we should have a presence, please get in touch with Laurie Goodman a.s.a.p. at 816.6391.  And if you know the appropriate contact person, please share that, too.

Over the summer Harbor Homes will also be sending out invitations to the community for a large event for potential Circle Leader candidates to learn about and self-refer to be Circle Leaders.  Just as was planned for agency-professional referrals, self-referrers will also go through a screening process to determine readiness to begin this exciting journey to a better future.

We are looking forward to working with you and encourage you to contact us with any ideas or suggestions you may have.  We’ll be in touch to remind you of the August 21 Summer gathering and request an RSVP.

Equipping Families and Communities

“We believe no one should live in poverty. Families and communities can take charge of their destinies. And if given the right tools and support, economic stability can be achieved.   We see it happen in our chapters every day.

Through an approach that combines our techniques with the individualized support of our dedicated volunteers and the resources of organizations and communities, we create an environment that educates, empowers and equips our members to move up and out of poverty successfully.”
